Gracepoint Foster Care Ministry exists to support Christian foster families being obedient to God’s command to take in orphans and widows in their troubles (James 1:27) and believing in God to place the lonely in families. (Psalm 68:6). A priority is to support Christian families who may feel called to take in foster children, and support them in that process.  Another goal is to have families within Gracepoint and the Christian community at large become foster licensed for the purpose of foster-to-adopt, long term foster care, respite care, emergency placement, and drivers/supervisors for biological visits.

It is the goal of Gracepoint Church to partner with other churches in the community to see that the needs of foster children and families are met in the Kansas City metro area. Specifically, Gracepoint partners with the James 1:27 Network foster care ministry of Westside Family Church to provide resources, training, support, and fun.

FOSTER CARE SUPPORT

FOSTER FAMILIES. As a church, we would like to provide support, resources, and service to families who are called by God to have foster children in their home. It is our desire to establish a network of people who can come alongside these families to meet needs as they care for children. If you are a foster family, we would like for you to fill out our WRAP TEAM Form, so that we can ensure that we are able to adequately do this for you! Please email us at foster@kcgracepoint.com so that we can get the Form to you and get you started.

HOW TO SERVE FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE FAMILIES

(1) Share Time & Talents. Eager to learn how you can come alongside those caring for the orphan? Consider using your time, talent and treasure to serve foster and adoptive families in our community. If you would like to learn about some ways or be assigned a family to serve on a monthly basis by taking a meal, providing a few hours of childcare, cleaning, household projects,or running an errand, let us know! Contact Sarah Oberndorfer at foster@kcgracepoint.com

(2) Clothing and Resources. When foster children are placed, there is often an immediate need for clothing and items such as toothbrushes, diapers, or other hygiene items. Gracepoint Foster Care Ministry maintains gently used clothing of all sizes, hygiene items, and diapers in our Foster Care Resource Closet so they can be shared with foster families when needed. To donate new or gently used items, drop off before/after worship in the Resource Box in the basement.  Questions? Email foster@kcgracepoint.com

(3) Respite Care Families. Would you be interested in becoming licensed to provide respite care for foster children from Gracepoint? There is a big need for children in the Gracepoint community, and the Kansas City metro area at large to have safe, positive places to go for respite care (short-term care while foster families must travel, etc.). Want to find out more about this and other ways you can support foster families at Gracepoint? Contact Sarah Oberndorfer for more information. Phone: 913-449-4919
